It has been rumored that spring is approaching, which means renewal, which is a nice way of saying say that you should probably get a job and start contributing to society. Which might have been a little bit harsh, but we think you’re stronger for it.
Stronger yet? No? Ok…we’re genuinely pretty sorry, but this blog post, the best resource you’re likely to find on NYC job fairs, should make things right. Let us begin the reconciliation process:
1. UnCubed
UnCubed is a day of “classes, music, drinks, art, contests, and speakers”. In a genius move UnCubed has turned the traditional talk-to-people-at-a-booth-for-a-few-minutes-and-possibly-get-some-swag into the sort of event a traditional human being might actually want to attend. The day is focussed on making meaningful connections, and if you don’t come away with an interview, hopefully you’ll have played some worthwhile pingpong.

2. New York’s 14th Annual Diversity Employment Day Career Fair
“I don’t know,” you might say, “I just don’t know if I’m diverse enough to go to this.” Nonsense! There is no one else in the world like you. The 14th Annual Diversity Employment Day Career Fair will embrace you like a needle in a haystack. Then they might give you a job! Or not, but getting in touch with your diverse side will have made it worth the time.
When: April 9, 11am-3pm
Where: Holiday Inn New York City-Midtown-57th St.
3. NY TechDay
TechDay 2014 is billed as “the world’s largest startup event. Clearly none of these people have ever been to a Stanford football game. Oh, snaaap! Burn on both coasts.
If nothing else, you should at least check out their website, which is just about the sweetest piece of web design legitery north of the equator and then some. If you do end up attending, you’ll be treated to a wide variety of technology companies, from ones that don’t want to hire you, to ones that may actually consider it. On the exhibition map, there’s also a space for “Dating”, so the “job” part of the job fair here is broadly defined indeed.
As if another reason was needed to go to NY TechDay, we will also be there, and we are also datable.

4. Union Square Green Market
“The Union Square Green Market? Isn’t that…?” YUP. It’s a farmers market that goes down in Union Square a few times a week. “But I’m looking for a job, not fresh squash. Not that I’d say no…” Well let me ask you this, Sally Skeptic:
Do the differences between a job fair and a farmers market go any further than the superficial? At both you are talking to representatives of a company at a table; at both you receive free trifles; at both there are likely some young people behaving with an enthusiasm that’s somehow creepy and disturbing. So, if you love fresh squash or apples or yucca or whatever as much as you say, why not get a job that has to do with those things? The local food movement is as hot as can be right now, and a well kept secret is that a good micro-farmer is as in demand as any software engineering position. 5. TechMeetups Job Fair
TechMeetups aims to create a global network of robust startup hubs, and will hold the most anticipated job fair of mid-April on April 15. Hell, we might even give you a job if you come to see us.
