If you haven’t caught up with Angkor: Exploring Cambodia’s Sacred City<\/a>, – an exhibition featuring the artistic legacy of the civilisation of the ancient city that’s happening at the Asian Civilisation Museum from now till 22 July, why not make it part of your plans this weekend?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While revelling<\/g> into the magnificence of these revered archaeological masterpieces from rare Khmer sculptures, to pictorial depictions and memorabilia that tell the story of the French encounter with Angkor, be sure not to miss the fringe happenings \u2013 presented in conjunction with the exhibition \u2013\u00a0 taking place this Friday to Sunday, 25-27 May.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experience graceful dancing\u00a0apsaras\u00a0<\/em>and lively\u00a0sbek thom<\/em>\u00a0shadow puppets as they come alive off ancient Angkor temples. Rediscover Khmer art and architecture in craft activities inspired by masterpieces on display in the\u00a0Angkor: Exploring Cambodia\u2019s Sacred City\u00a0<\/em>exhibition.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Move like graceful\u00a0apsaras<\/em>\u00a0(celestial dancers) in this introductory workshop on traditional Khmer royal dance. Talented dancers from Cambodiawill demonstrate and guide you through basic moves of the enchanting\u00a0apsara\u00a0<\/em>dance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3)\u00a0Shadow Puppet Dance Workshop<\/a>, Sun 27 May, 430pm<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Go behind the scenes to see\u00a0sbek<\/g> thom<\/g>\u00a0<\/em>shadow puppets and learn how to move as gracefully as the performers. Talented dancers from Cambodia will<\/g> demonstrate and guide you through the basics of moving with large shadow puppets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unsure if you have the moves of the swan? Not to worry, no experience is needed for both dance workshops and are suitable for beginners so there\u2019s no barriers to having a great time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
