About Poor Thing by The Necessary Stage
Another day in Singapore. Another minor road accident. Sharifah is driving her best friend, Jerome, back to camp for his reservist. Alisha and husband Jevon, are in another car, driving back from a company dinner & dance. Along a deserted Singapore road late one night, they encounter each other in a minor road accident. What follows is an exchange between the couples that oscillates between confrontation and conciliation.
Poor Thing, The Necessary Stage’s latest production, grapples with the issue of road rage, a seemingly common occurrence on Singapore roads today. A fun, innovative and true-to-life play, Poor Thing brings the ugly side of citizen journalism and bad behaviour into focus. The audience also gets to be a part of the ‘live’ action on stage through social media interaction, being able to view and comment on clips posted to the Internet in real-time.
Poor Thing taps into our current obsession with living our lives through social media. A play not to be missed, it promises to expose the good and the bad of how Singaporeans behave towards one another.
