From now to 31 March 2024, Peatix will donate 1 Japanese yen (0.0091 Singapore Dollar) towards the Noto Peninsula Earthquake Relief Fund, on behalf of every Peatix event attendee.
Donations will be made via the Japanese Red Cross to provide relief to the disaster-stricken areas in Ishikawa Prefecture, Toyama Prefecture, Niigata Prefecture and Fukui Prefecture.
Peatix CEO Taku Harada declared the platform’s intention to provide support to help the quake-hit cities recover as quickly as possible.
“Across regions, we will donate 1 Yen for every ticket transacted on the platform, regardless of whether the Peatix event is free or paid. Users can check out tickets to the same or multiple events and a donation to the cause will be made all the same.
“We are hopeful that our pledge will inspire more communities in Singapore to participate in local events and simultaneously support the relief fund,” he said.
Multiple cities in central Japan were severely impacted by the 7.5 magnitude quake on New Year’s Day. Port city of Wajima on the Noto Peninsula was among the worst hit as tens of thousands of households continue to remain without electricity or water.
