Social media – it’s the 21st century tool for word of mouth marketing and your new best friend in event publicity. Did you know that 92% trust recommendations made by friends and family more so than that of other forms of media?
Same goes for event publicity! So if you haven’t already, start working on publicising your event through Facebook and Twitter!
Engage on Facebook
1. Create a Facebook event to kick things off! This can be done with extreme ease through the “Promote” tab in the Peatix dashboard, and by ease, we mean in ONE CLICK. You read us right, it’s that simple. What more, Facebook events include a “get ticket” link, directing traffic straight to your ticketing page.
2. Give sufficient cues as to where attendees may get tickets in the description of your event page (i.e. start, middle, end).
3. Create a Facebook page to foster and engage with your community, especially if you tend to organise recurring events. Through it, you can keep them in the loop of upcoming events as they become your mouthpiece. Take advantage of the Facebook Page cover photo to publicise your event and include the ticketing page URL.
4. Provide regular bite-sized updates including your ticketing link on your Facebook page or Facebook event page. Keep them gnawing for more and sharing their excitement on Facebook!
Engage on Twitter
1. Tweet regularly on Twitter with teasers to keep your audience in anticipative edge, enough to click on the ticketing page link included in your 140 characters. There is no magic solution as to how often, when, or which user you should Tweet to but there is a bout of tools to give you a leg up on where to begin.
Followerwonk – Determine when users are most active and likely to see your Tweet.
Hootsuite – Schedule Tweets so you need not be at your desk 24/7. Understand the effectiveness of the timing or phrasing of your Tweets by the number of clicks received per Tweet.
2. Re-Tweet follower Tweets relating to your event. You’d be surprised at the buy-in you could get by engaging these users when rewarding them with due recognition. Tweetdeck’s a useful tool to help you view all Tweets trending under a keyword or phrase related to your event.
