Since the pea landed on the lovely island state of Singapore, it has made itself quite at home. Having settled comfortably, PeaTiX decided to have a gathering with the event organising community! We kicked things off with our launch party last Wednesday evening at the Hub in Somerset.
Gourmet food, decorative balloons, chilled imported German beer and Japanese sake, soothing music, fondant Pea-chan, and awesome PeaTiX t-shirts – check. With all things in place, the PeaTiX team (including Pea-chan) was ready to receive our invited guests.
Registration
Checking-in was a rather intriguing process for many. Our guests experienced first-hand for their first time, PeaTiX’s QR code check-in function via our mobile application.
Pea-chan was there to greet them!
Opening Speech
Taku Harada, CEO of PeaTiX, flew in from Tokyo that very morning so he could attend our launch party! The crowd’s chatter simmered to a murmur as Taku took to the microphone to give an opening speech. He provided insight into PeaTiX’s online and mobile ticketing platform and the services offered to support the event organising community. A few past events hosted on PeaTiX were also featured including an aerial cat photography event – how interesting! The PeaTiX team is really looking forward to supporting all sorts of events here in Singapore.
Taku then introduced the Singapore team. Emi Takemura, Head of Asia at PeaTiX Asia Pte., currently leads a team of four. It consists of Fabian Lua and Claire Ding who are working on community growth, and Nicholas Gerard who’s working on business development.
Invited Speaker on Pecha Kucha
Our second speaker of the evening, Waki Yoneoka, the organiser of the upcoming PechaKucha Night in collaboration with INSEAD, gave us a low-down into previous PechaKucha Nights. PechaKucha aims to provide a comfortable space for speakers of all backgrounds and experience to present innovative ideas and knowledge in a 20X20 format. 20 images with 20 seconds totaling six minutes and 40 seconds, keeping it short but concise.
There were over 300 attendees in the last PechaKucha Night, much more than they had expected. Tickets for the upcoming PechaKucha Night are also selling out fast with a fantastic line-up of speakers. Check it out on PeaTiX’s ticketing platform!
Oh the Food, Glorious Food
One important thing all Singaporeans look forward to, the food. It’s probably our national past time to talk about food, a lot. We even talk about different kinds of food while we’re eating food.
Knowing this, PeaTiX amped up the food factor for the evening with Kerbside Gourmet, gourmet food served out of a van! If that’s not unusual enough, we also had a delectable pea-themed menu to whet the appetites of our guests. That alone was quite a conversation starter.
Guests mingled, conversations were created, and there was an exchange of ideas. Across the board, we could feel a sense of community spirit fostered amongst the crowd. That is exactly our aim at PeaTiX – to be more than just a ticket. We seek to foster collaborative partnerships and knowledge sharing amongst the event organising community, to help connect and add value to one another. PeaTiX will be organising other events in the near future to continue pursuing this aim. Do look out for further announcements.
A video of our launch party will be made available after the long weekend. In the meanwhile, Pea-chan wishes Singapore a happy 48th birthday!
