How to craft an event title that stands out

Claire Ding - July 15, 2014

Naming an event might seem simple and straightforward, yet coming up with one that stands out is an art in itself. It could make or break the difference between someone clicking on your event in an events listing or newsletter to find out more.

Here are eight tips to keep in mind when naming your next event to ignite interest.

1. Leave a lasting impression, be provocative and memorable.

2. Highlight your event’s mission to immediately appeal to those who identify with it.

3. Use numbers for annual events or an event series so that attendees will not be confused with a previous event page. It also goes to show the popularity of your event in being able to host it repeatedly!

4. Leverage familiarity

– Highlight well-known names of people or organisations (perhaps including your own!) to capture the attention of those who are fans and add to your event’s credibility.

– If it’s an event series, come up with an event series name and use it consistently to capture the attention of regulars and for newer attendees to get acquainted with for future reference.
