Dearest customers of Peatix,
It seems like I say this every year, but 2023 was particularly challenging, and this was true for most event platform companies such as ours. It took a lot of work to guess what the transition to a post-COVID world would look like, which made it difficult to position our teams within a rapidly changing environment. As an entrepreneur and CEO, it is deeply frustrating not to be in control of things.
But it’s a new year and as I look back, our teams worked hard in re-building some of the platform foundations that were growing old and complicated after 13 years of supporting our business. We have new talent onboard to bring in fresh ideas and perspectives. I believe we can look upon 2024 as the start of Peatix 2.0 where we can look forward to serving our customers by connecting people and communities in much better ways than before.
I also turned 50 last year. Growing up in New York, I remember being constantly afraid of the Soviets launching a missile at us, and the dark ages of 70s and 80s New York. Having moved to Tokyo in the mid-80s, I recall the burst of the Japanese bubble economy, and obviously, there was the earthquake of 2011 that helped shape Peatix and its mission of serving people and communities. The division between people and individuals has brought many difficult times, but I continue to hold faith that together with my colleagues, we have the opportunity to make further positive changes on a larger scale, by remaining committed to the meaningful work of bringing people together.
I hope 2024 is a better year for you and us. Thank you for your continued patronage of Peatix.
Taku
