Planning an event to its tee with programme, logistics, and operations panned out is but halfway to making the experience real. The other half being to get the word out to people in your community, be they urban farmers, indie music lovers, thespians, and so on, to join in the fun at your event!
That’s where event marketing comes in, to not only reach a crowd, but the right crowd of people to increase the chances of them purchasing a ticket or registering for your event.
We understand the challenge of cutting through the noise to capture the attention of your event’s target audience.
When ticketing your event on Peatix, we help you put two and two together by recommending your event to our existing users based off a set of criteria that screens for relevance. An example being, if a user has attended a film screening event in the past, they will be recommended upcoming film screening events happening in their city.
These recommendations are completely automated. This means you need not spend time or money to have your event be highlighted to people who would fall within your event’s target audience.
There are, however, three things you can do to increase the likelihood of people showing interest and clicking through to your event page via event recommendations we make.
1. Put up a good banner image
This would be the most prominent attention grabber in event recommendations. Make your banner image attractive with a high resolution, eye-catching image that reflects your event’s vibe, theme, and content. A good image adds a sense of flair, professionalism and credibility to your event. Consider adding information into your banner image that would entice people to find out more, but keep to information hooks and not over clutter the image. Information such as an influential keynote speaker or renowned performer’s face or name, the name or logo of an easily recognisable brand or company, a short one-line blurb on what your event is about to appeal to your event’s target attendee, and so on. Do keep your banner image within these recommended dimensions for it to come clear and not pixelated.
2. Create a captivating title
Do not underestimate the power of a title to capture your target attendee’s attention. Think about news articles, what would get you to read an article in further detail or give it a miss? That’s right, the headline. Event titles have that same effect on whether or not your target audience decides to click through to your event page to find out more. This entails that you understand your audience well to know what words or phrases you should include in an event title that would immediately capture and spark interest. We recommend these eight tricks to help you craft an event title that stands out.
3. Ensure the accuracy of your map
Input a clear and accurate ‘venue address’ in your event page. You know you’ve done it right when the map on your event page displays the correct location. Seemingly trivial, but it would mean that your event happening in Kuala Lumpur will be recommended to users residing there instead of to those in New York.
