Accelerating event awareness up by 32%-82%: How three organisers did it

A children’s theatre performance drove event awareness up by 31.8% and sold out two weeks before the event.

A one-day conference had an increment of 41.8% more views of their ticketing page within three days of opening the event up for registrations.

A weekend getaway garnered an impressive growth of 82.1% more page views the very day the event was published!

How did the organisers of these three events manage to increase event awareness so quickly and significantly?

The secret sauce, revealed
Aside from organising interesting events, all three organisers added one of two factors to their repertoire of marketing tools made available when they hosted their events on Peatix.

1. Social Share: Organisers of the first two events mentioned had enabled Social Share, a built-in feature that incentivises attendees with a 10% discount off the ticket price when they choose to share an event on Facebook or Twitter. This allows organisers to exponentially market their event by reaching friends of current attendees on social media!

2. Follow an Organiser: The weekend getaway event experienced such rapid growth in views of their ticketing page as previous attendees or fans have opted to receive news of future events! Otherwise dubbed as followers. Once an event goes live for ticketing on Peatix, followers will automatically receive an email notification of it and never miss out on events they love.

How does it work?
Relevant targeting.

People trust brand recommendations from friends seven times more than they do advertisements. Hence the effectiveness of Social Share as attendees share about events they are attending with friends they’re connected with on social media. This is evidenced in Social Share driving up to 3.5 times more event awareness in comparison to Facebook for the above events. 

As for following an organiser, because it’s a deliberate opt-in decision, recipients of the email notification of a new event actually want to receive and be amongst the first to know this information. Hence increasing the likelihood that they’ll click on the email and through to the event page to find out more, driving both relevant and engaged traffic to the ticketing page.
