We are celebrating 11 years of Peatix this May!
This joyous milestone is made possible by the continuous efforts of our homegrown organizers in Singapore, Malaysia and Japan. Their initiatives to unite the world inspire us at Peatix and we believe it may spark new ideas for you too!
In conjunction with our 11th anniversary, we would like to turn the spotlight on our organizers and the incredible experiences they create, both online and offline.
Here is our little interview with Hazel’s Guestlist, a lifestyle and nightlife brand in Singapore.
- Tell us about Hazel’s Guestlist
We aim to bring fun-minded people together through our weekly events ranging from club nights and festivals to curated experiences for individuals and corporate companies.
- What inspired you to start Hazel’s Guestlist and what motivates you to keep running it?
Hazel’s Guestlist was born by chance. When I was in Sweden for a University exchange program, the locals there took care of me; every week was filled with fun events and experiences. When I returned home to Singapore, I wanted to pay it forward and be a local buddy for international students and tourists by organising cycling trips, food tours and parties.
As a fun-loving and sociable person myself, the events that Hazel’s Guestlist throws resonate with my vibe. I believe that’s why I have been able to manage this community with my team since 2011.
- Do you remember the first event you created? What was one memorable moment from running it?
My first foray into nightlife came when a DJ sought my help to market his club event. Hazel’s Guestlist brought 200 pax and saved the night. He then introduced me to some players in the nightlife industry and Hazel’s Guestlist soared from there.
- One piece of advice you’d offer to new event organizers who are eager but a little nervous about running an online/offline event?
If you don’t ask or try, the answer is always ‘No’. Do an estimated costing, check-in with your appetite for risk, and just go for it.
- How has Peatix benefited you the most in your event and/or community management process?
Before Peatix, ticketing was very manual – we printed business cards as tickets which were easily forged, cash sales collection was tedious, attendees lists were on papers or shared google sheets. We needed 10 staff at the door just to facilitate entry for 3000-5000 pax beach parties at the then Wave House Sentosa. By the end of the night, our eyes felt like they were popping out of our sockets.
With Peatix, ticketing is a breeze. Payments were all collected online via credit card, we only needed 2 staff at the door to scan Peatix QR codes, and any ticketing anomaly could be easily solved by checking the Peatix Dashboard for Organizers.
Peatix also saved us the need to send out e-mailers via third party platforms. We could easily send a message to all our past event ticket holders who automatically become followers of Hazel’s Guestlist Group in Peatix.
